Far away from Pune in Maharashtra lies Hazaribagh in Jharkhand where National Investigation Agency(NIA) sleuths launched search operation at the house of Shahnawaz, who is alleged accused linked with terrorist group Islamic State, or ISIS.
NIA has seized a printing machine from the house, which officers believe may have been used to print documents, posters, or other suspicious material.
Shahnawaz had earlier been jailed in 2019 for robbery and theft. After securing bail in December 2020, he allegedly came into contact with ISIS handlers, eventually becoming a crucial figure in the Pune module case.
Investigators suspect this Shahnawaz has a background of the terrorist group Islamic State, or ISIS.Also, officials suspect that individuals associated with Shahnawaz may still be active in Jharkhand.
Incidentally, the house of Shahnawaz is in the Pelawal police station area of Hazaribagh district in Jharkhand.
Aware of the possible protest against them the NIA sleuths had landed at Shahnawaz house with a team. They were in a convoy of three vehicles. They reportedly encircled his house and carried out rounds of interrogations of its occupants most of whom were Shannawaz’s relatives.
The search operation is linked to the probe into the suspected network of Shahnawaz Alam, a key accused in the Pune ISIS module case.
Additional police forces were deployed, and teams from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) were also present along with NIA officials.
