NTPC Mining Limited (NML) is organising STRATUM 2025, a two-day National Mining Conference being held on 15th and 16th December, 2025 at Ranchi. 

On the first day, the conference focused on Strategic Transformation, Resource Acquisition and Technology Upgradation in Mining, and provides a platform for knowledge exchange, innovation and collaborative dialogue in the mining sector.

The Inaugural Session on Monday was virtually addressed by Shri Gurdeep Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, NTPC Ltd. In his address, he emphasised the need to enhance coal production to meet NTPC’s target of 100 million tonnes, along with cost reduction through improved operational efficiency. 

He highlighted the importance of diversification in mining, including exploration of important resources such as critical minerals. He also emphasised strengthening mining efficiency and coal dispatch systems. He also touched upon initiatives related to coal gasification and carbon sequestration as part of NTPC’s broader energy strategy.

Key-note addresses were delivered by Shri Shivam Srivastava, Director (Fuel), NTPC Ltd and Chairman, NTPC Mining Limited; Shri Ravindra Kumar, Director (Operations), NTPC; Shri Anil Kumar Jadli, Director (HR), NTPC; Shri Prabhakar Chowki, Ex-Director (Mines), NLCIL and Advisory Committee Member, NTPC; Shri D. N. Prasad, Former Adviser, Ministry of Coal, Government of India and Advisory Committee Member, NTPC; Shri Ajay Kumar, Director (T/P&D), CMPDIL; Shri Sanjay Kumar Jha, Director (T/P&P), MCL.

In his address, Shri Shivam Srivastava, Director (Fuel), NTPC Ltd and Chairman, NML highlighted digitisation and automation as key pillars of mining in a low-carbon future. He also referred to progressive policies, women empowerment and gender inclusivity initiatives in NML, and pilot projects being undertaken to improve performance and achieve operational targets.

Earlier, Shri Naveen Jain, RED (Mining) & CEO, NTPC Mining Limited, delivered the welcome address, outlining NML’s strategic roadmap and operational progress.

As part of the inaugural programme, the Souvenir of STRATUM 2025 and the Coffee Table Book of NTPC Mining Limited were released. The session also featured the screening of an NTPC Mining Limited documentary film, showcasing NML’s mining operations, technological initiatives and its role in India’s energy ecosystem.

The ongoing Conference includes technical sessions on Strategic Resources for a Self-Reliant Future, Clean Energy from the Depths, Smart Mining through Digital Transformation & Automation, and Advancing Towards Sustainability in Mining. Experts from academic institutions, research organisations, industry and government bodies are presenting papers and participating in discussions on critical minerals, coal gasification, digital mining, automation, ESG practices and mine reclamation.

Senior officials from NTPC Mining Limited, including the Heads of Projects of NML’s coal mining projects, also participated in the conference and deliberations.

STRATUM 2025 continues to highlight NTPC Mining’s role in advancing sustainable, innovative and future ready mining practices for the nation.
