
*President Murmu addressed the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur.
President Droupadi Murmu today( December 29, 2025) attended the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script of the Santhali language and addressed the 15th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur.
Before inaugurating the event, President Murmu garlanded the statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu, who is credited with authoring the 100-year-old script of the Ol Chiki in 1925. This has gained a literary movement for the tribal Santhali community during the past one hundred years.
The President flew from Ranchi to Jamshedpur this morning to get a warm welcome at the airport there by the district officers and the CM Hemant Soren.
She visited the Dishom Jaherthan courtyard in Karandih on the outskirts of Jamshedpur to attend the closing ceremony of the centenary celebration of the Ol Chiki script, being jointly organised by All India Santhali Writers’ Association and Dishom Jaherthan Committee.
*By garlanding his statue, the President will pay tributes to Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the creator of the Ol Chiki script.
The event took place to mark 100 years of the Ol Chiki movement launched in 1925 by Pandit Raghunath Murmu.
Thereafter, the President attended the 15th convocation ceremony of NIT Jamshedpur in Adityapur area of Saraikela Kharsawan district in the afternoon. Later in the day, she is scheduled to return to Ranchi to spend the night at the Lok Bhawan.
Tomorrow, she is scheduled to visit Gumla to address an Antarrajyiya Jansanskritik Samagam Samaroh-Kartik Jatra – an interstate folk cultural gathering. The President will leave for Delhi on Tuesday.
