
*Face of the arrested accused - fake IAS- CAO is covered inside Hussainabad police station in Palamau, Jharkhand
Cops have arrested a man who was claiming to be an Indian Civil Service officer and posing as the Chief Accounts Officer( CAO) to mislead officials in Palamau.
Rajesh Kumar( 35), a resident of Kukhi village under Haidarnagar police station area of Palamau, was taken into custody on Saturday( January 3, 2026).
He reportedly admitted to be moving around as a fake Indian Civil Service officer for the past six to seven years. He was arrested after his statements during interrogations were found to be “ contradictory.”
During the investigation, police confirmed that the accused was not associated with any government service in Jharkhand or Odisha.
A search is learnt to have made the police recover a fake ‘IP&TAFS’( that stands for the Indian Posts & Telecommunications Accounts and Finance Service)identity card, a mobile phone, a coaching institute ID card, and a car bearing a nameplate reading “ Government of India, CAO, Department of Telecommunication.”
A case has been registered under Hussainabad police station in Palamau, and the accused was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
The arrest was made by the police led by Md. Taqub and Sonu K Choudhary.
