

Responding to a complaint filed by an accused,Jharkhand police personnel raided the headquarter office of the Enforcement Directorate in the capital city of Jharkhand.
In effect, an extra section of Central Industrial Security Forces was deployed to prevent any law and order problem at the ED office.
In centre of the conflict between the Jharkhand police and the ED is Santosh Kumar, a clerk of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department. He, who is a resident of Chutia area, 7 km from the the ED office, was being interrogated by the ED in the Rs 23 crore drinking water scam case.
The case was registered in the form of an FIR at the Airport police station on January 12. As per the complaint filed by Kumar, when he reached the office of Assistant Director( 2) of the ED, officers present there ‘forced’ hin to accept his involvement in the scam.
On refusal to accept their ‘ pressure’, alleged Kumar in his complaint, he was abused and beaten up by Assistant Director Prateek and his colleague Subham.
In his complaint, Santosh Kumar, who is the state government employee of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department,has alleged that after he was bleeding, he was taken to hospital, brought back and made to change my blood containing shirt.Further, he alleged in his written complaint that he was threatened of dire consequences if he shared ‘ details’ with media or lawyers, his wife and children will be jailed.
In view of his complaint, a section of the Ranchi police raided the office of the ED and tried to examine the CCTV footage.
However, the ED official described the entire complaint of Santosh Kumar as ‘ fake’ and part of ‘ conspiracy’ to malign its officials image.
When contacted, two ED officials said that no summon was sent to Santosh Kumar who had himself come on his own and hit his head on a glass. Soon, they said, they took him to hospital and got him bandaged.
Alongside, the BJP leader and former CM Babulal Marandi has used his X account on social media expressing his suspicion that in the guise of this drama, police can destroy the evidences gathered by the ED in Drinking water scam.
