As part of the visit, the delegation toured the Coventry city bus depot to study electric vehicle (EV)–based urban mobility systems. The visit provided insights into key EV technologies, depot operations, fleet management, and zero-emission public transport solutions designed for large-scale urban mobility.

The Coventry City Council also made detailed presentations on innovation in urban mobility, the future of transportation, city planning and management, and the development of inclusive and vibrant public spaces.

A key focus of the discussions was the Coventry Very Light Rail (VLR) system—an affordable, low-carbon, and people-centric urban rail solution that represents a new model for sustainable public transport in cities.

Mr. Sudivya Kumar stated that Coventry’s integrated approach to clean mobility, urban innovation, and public space design offers valuable lessons for Jharkhand. He emphasized that these global learnings will help shape clean, smart, and future-ready cities in Jharkhand through sustainable transport systems, improved urban planning, and enhanced public spaces.

The Coventry engagements mark an important step in Jharkhand’s efforts to adopt international best practices for sustainable urban development and climate-responsive city management.
