India heads ahead with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flag ship scheme- PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna with thirty lakh house holds lit up across the country.

The scheme launched in 2024, entails applying for rooftop solar system to generate green power for both self consumption and sale to registered agency( See the Guidelines to get empowered on subsidised format for implementation at your own roof top).

This initiative is meant to strenthen energy security while driving a green and self reliant family.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on Tuesday( February 24,2026) hailed the achievement of empowering 30 lakh households across the nation with rooftop solar power, describing it as a commendable milestone in India’s clean energy journey.

The Prime Minister complimented all beneficiaries who have embraced rooftop solar, noting that the initiative is boosting savings, sustainability and self-reliance among citizens.

Shri Modi further emphasised that the scheme forms an integral part of the Government’s efforts to build an energy-secure, green and future-ready India.

Responding to a post by Union Minister, Shri Pralhad Joshi, the Prime Minister posted;
