

The death of a newborn at Chakradharpur Sub-Divisional Hospital in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand has become a major subject of inquiry by the National Human Rights Commission.
Already, NHRC has issued notices to the Secretary, Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, Ranchi and Deputy Commissioner, West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, in connection with a media report of the death of a newborn due to lack of proper medical care.

Investigation revealed that the lack of proper medical care for the mother and her baby during pre and post-delivery led to the death of her newborn at Chakradharpur Sub-Divisional Hospital in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
After local newspapers reported the tragic event, the NHRC took suo motu cognizance of the report and has called for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks.
