Far from Puri in Odisha is Ranchi in Jharkhand where Lord Jagannath is worshipped by Hindus in common. At both these places, the  Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra were celebrated every year.

The scene is no different this year when the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath was being celebrated across Jharkhand on July 16,2026.

The celebration appears to be going on with traditional fervour and devotion. The main celebration are being held at the historic Jagannathpur Temple in Dhurwa, Ranchi where the display board near Kutchery Chowk shows Chief Minister Hemant Soren wishing people on this occasion.

As per the tradition, religious rituals began early this morning at the Jagannath temple in Dhurwa. After the deities are ceremonially placed on the chariot in the afternoon, the Rath Yatra commenced for Mausibari at 5:01 p.m.

The district administration has made extensive security arrangements, including CCTV surveillance and the deployment of a large number of security personnel across the fair grounds.

Meanwhile, in Hazaribagh, ISKCON conducted the Rath Yatra on a 40-foot technologically advanced chariot developed with the support of IIT experts, while a cultural troupe from Kolkata presented special performances.

In Khunti, the local sub-divisional administration and the police were on foot maintaining law and order for the historic Rath Mela in the Bundu-Panchpargana region.

Special traffic diversions have also been put in place at major Jagannath temples across the state, including in Seraikela, Dumka and Jamshedpur, to ensure the smooth movement of devotees.
