
Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi celebrated the 80th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony held at both campuses of the Institute.
The ceremony, led by Prof. Rajeev Srivastava, Director, IIIT Ranchi, in the presence of members of the Institute community, was marked by the
*Play for India Event*.
The celebrations began with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. The occasion was marked by reflections on the significance of independence, the responsibilities that come with it, and the role of every generation in shaping the country’s future.
The Director addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts on the occasion, offering guidance and encouragement to the students and the Institute community.
The programme featured a series of student-led cultural and literary activities. The Saaz Music Club presented a musical performance, followed by a dance performance by Nrityarashi. A special speech was presented by Alfaaz, while Abhinay presented a theatre performance.
The celebrations also included the prize distribution for the *Play for India Event* (organised between 12th - 14th August, 2026), recognising students and employees who participated in various sporting competitions, including Futsal, Chess, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Carrom.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a message encouraging everyone to carry the spirit of freedom through responsible action, learning, creativity and contribution.
The celebration reflected IIIT Ranchi’s continued emphasis on education, innovation, creativity and responsible contribution, encouraging its students and community to play a meaningful role in India’s progress.
