She is Munmun Bhattacharya (42), whose effective teaching and efforts helped to foster leadership qualities and self-confidence in the children.

She, a teacher from the coal hub of Dhanbad in Jharkhand, is among 82 teachers and educators who received the coveted National Teachers' Award presented by President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi on September 4,2026.

Munmun Bhattacharya (42), headmistress of Government Middle School in Barmasia, Dhanbad was the only teacher from Jharkhand selected for the prestigious award, a notification issued by the Ministry of Education said.

She received a certificate of appreciation, a shawl and a cash prize of Rs 50,000. "At the Barmasia Government Middle School, there was a resource crunch and I had to develop Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) to make education engaging and effective for the children," Bhattacharya told PTI.
