From Palamau district in Jharkhand state of India, he has been going from pillar to post to get his son, Shashi Paswan, released from jail in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
"My son went to Dubai in 2025 to work in a private company on contract. The family had fixed his sister's wedding for June 26, and Shashi wanted to attend it. He paid an agent to return home, but was trapped," the aggrieved father, Lalan Paswan, said.
Enquiry revealed that his 23-year-old son has been in a UAE jail for four months now. He has lodged a complaint with the police in Medininagar that his son was incarcerated for leaving his job without properly informing the company and paying a tout to return home.
Lalan Paswan of Dadra village, Palamau, had submitted an application at the Hussinabad police station on Monday (October 26, 2026), urging the Palamu district administration to bring his son Shashi Kumar Paswan back. This was confirmed by Palamu Superintendent of Police Kapil Choudhary.
When asked, Choudhary said, "Shashi has been in jail for allegedly contacting the agent, giving him money to return home, and leaving his job without properly informing the company. He was absent from work for seven consecutive days."
Alongside, Lalan Paswan has informed the police that his son has been lodged in a jail in Dubai's Al Rashidiya for the past four months.
Lalan further informed that Shashi had assured him that he would come out of jail soon. Based on his assurance, his family in Palamau waited for over four months before reporting the matter. “I urge the administration and the Government of India to take necessary action and bring my son back," Lalan said.
The Superintendent of Police of Palamu said the application has been forwarded to higher authorities.
Shashi Paswan’s wife, Sumitra, said, "My husband was hired by a private company in Abu Dhabi on a contract basis. He has been trapped by the agent and has been in jail for the past four months. I urge the authorities to provide him legal help and bring him home."
While the Jharkhand authorities have acted on Shashi Paswan’s complaint, his need of the hour is this. He must seek the release or justice for his son jailed in the UAE; immediate diplomatic and legal intervention through official channels is the most effective path forward.
Under international consular protocols and the guidelines of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), he can leverage structured government mechanisms to secure legal defense and track detention statuses
