Despite a significant decline in Maoist activity, Jharkhand Police have stepped up security across the state in view of three observance periods announced by the CPI (Maoist). District police chiefs have been directed to strengthen surveillance and protect sensitive installations against possible disruptions.
Three Weeks Under Security Watch
According to the police headquarters' alert, the Maoist organisation is scheduled to observe:
• Krantikari (Bloody Revolution) Week: November 8–15
• Anti-Repression Week: November 16–22
• Martyrs’ Week: November 24–30
All Senior Superintendents of Police and Superintendents of Police have been instructed to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure preventive security arrangements.
Sensitive Installations Under Focus
Special monitoring has been advised around railway stations, tracks, bridges, trains, railway establishments and armouries. Police stations, security outposts and CRPF camps will also remain under watch.
Other sensitive locations include government offices, banks, financial institutions, forest department facilities, warehouses, mobile towers in remote areas, coal sidings, mining zones, highways, important roads, bridges and local markets. Security personnel, special police officers and individuals supporting the police have also been identified for protection.
Vigilance Beyond Security Operations
The alert comes amid a period of sustained action against Maoist networks, including arrests, surrenders and rehabilitation initiatives. However, the latest directions underline the need to prevent any resurgence or disruption during the announced periods.
Security Gains Need Sustained Vigilance
A reduction in insurgent activity is an important step, but lasting peace depends on consistent preparedness, effective intelligence and coordination among security agencies. Protecting public infrastructure and civilian life must remain central to the effort. The objective is not merely to prevent incidents, but to ensure that everyday life and development continue without fear.
