Inorder to become passenger friendly,the Indian Railways is gearing up to launch awareness campaign about its railway inquiry system-139.

As a result,they were compelled to come to the railway station to obtain the information.Often,at the station’s enquiry booth,the telephone is not picked up.

The railway officials believe that in absence of awareness,the passengers were unable to take advantage of their 139 telephone enquiry system. But now when any body dials 139 after dialing the local STD call,he/she will receive updated information.For instance,if you are in Dhanbad,you have to dial its code 0326 and then add 139 to get the information connected with all trains crossing Dhanbad,Patherdih,Katras and Gomoh.

These information available in Hindi and English include the time of arrival/departure/delay of a train,if it was running atleast by three hours/front-raeg bogies,status of the coach,confirmation of reservation/waiting list.
