The family members of Rungtas are in a state of shock and grief with the special court in New Delhi today awarding four-year jail term to JIPL Directors- RS Rungta and RC Rungta- in connection with a coal scam case.
“There is nothing to say.We will fight the case in appropriate court and seek justice”,said Sangit Kejriwal,a family member,echoing the sentiments of many relatives in Ranchi.
As it is,the court had imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh each on the Rungtas,whereas a fine of Rs 25 lakh was imposed in Jharkhand Ispat Pvt Ltd (JIPL).
The court order comes a week after the special court had on March 28 convicted JIPL and its directors RS Rungta and RC Rungta in the case pertaining to irregularities in allotment of coal block in Jharkhand.
Also,Special CBI Judge Bharat Parashar held the company and its two directors-Rungtas- guilty of the offences under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) of IPC.
