Jharkhand Welfare Minister Louis Marandi has said the state government is serious in providing a dignified life to the primitive tribals.

She said, “There are welfare programmes. I admit that situation of primitive tribals is not good since several years. But the government is serious to provide them a dignified life.”

However, senior BJP MLA Radhakrishna Kishore pointed out that Birsa Awas (housing) underlined for the tribals in Palamau district lay incomplete since 2003-04.

Another BJP legislator Anant Ojha said the Paharia tribes want to stay at their own place (hilltop) and so efforts be made to set up programmes at their place of living.
