Jharcraft is collaborating with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) to promote Tussor silk produced in Jharkhand. The State is a prominent participant in the Amazon India Fashion Week being currently held in New Delhi.
Tussor silk sarees and Kuchai silk kurtas have found popular appreciation during the Fashion Week. Internationally acclaimed designers like Reena Dhaka, Shaina N.C., Shruti Sancheti, Divya and Ambika Jain have used the fabric in their designer garments. In fact, the Fashion shows held during the week focussed on Tussor.

In recent years Jharkhand has emerged as the largest producer of Tussor silk in India. Silk production is now one of the most important sources of income for tribal communities in Jharkhand. Jharcraft’s  Director, Mr. K. Ravi Kumar said that Tussor reflects Jharkhand’s tribal culture and art and it is heartening to see that discerning Fashion designers are now readily using the fabric for high end products. Jharcraft now plans to take it to the international market.
