The police took ex Union Minister Yashwant Sinha into custody in Hazaribagh today.

The move was prompted by the stone pelting on the police personnel at Mahudi village.In fact,Sinha was leading a religious rally on the eve of the Ram Navami festival on Wednesday.The rally was passing through a road between Hazaribagh and Badkagaon where the state administration had banned religious rally since 1984.

After the police sought to stop the rally,the rallyists started pelting stones on the cops.Instead of backing the police and the prevalent guideline, Sinha took side of the rallyists.Next,the police used force and lathi charged.

Soon,Sinha sat on dharna at Mahudi village."This compelled us to take him into custody",said the police.
