Emerging as a stand-out performer,Jharkhand recorded the highest growth of over 22.5 percent in domestic air travel demand during the past three years.With this,the state is set to fly high on its establishment day –November 15-when a new flight service Jamshedpur-Kolkata will be introduced.The flight charge will be Rs 2500.
The Air Deccan has acquired the license to carry the service under the Narendra Modi government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme.
The company has a plan to run 40-seater flight to cover Jamshedpur-Kolkata in one-hour.In 2012-13,air travelers from Ranchi were 13,067.The number shot up to 15,746 in 2015-16,according to the state civil aviation department.
During the coming years,civil aviation sector is expected to witness development.One,with effect from March 25,2018,the Birsa Munda Airport is to carry 24x7 flight service.Right now,the air service is provided at this airport only for 6 hours.Two,the international air service is planned to be started from Ranchi by Air Asia for Malaysia,Singapore and Bangkok.
As it is,right now,this airport deals with Ranchi-Delhi and Ranchi-Mumbai and Ranchi-Bengaluru.The plan shows the air services can be linked with Bhubneshwar and Hyderabad.
