Tata Steel vice chairman today exhorted the IIM Ranchi pass outs to remain committed to the cause of the organization they worked for and observed that India can attain high growth provided it dealt with social inequality prevalent in the society.
Muthuraman,who was the chief guest on the occasion of the IIM Ranchi’s second convocation function held at Arya Bhatt hall of the Ranchi University today,addressed the pass outs.”Social inequality creates a number of problems.Many of them were visible in eastern India.Unless this was addressed,the task to attain 8-10 percent annual growth will be difficult”,said Muthuraman.
Muthuram said that he had in his long career felt that knowledge gained by doing professional courses helped him perform in a limited way.”To succeed in ones job,many traits were necessary.These can be acquired by sports,music,debate,reflection.And in my view the knowledge through professional courses and traits acquired through extra curricular activities helped a professional succeed in his career in the ratio of 30:70’,he observed.
During the convocation function,66 pass outs of PGDM and 59 pass outs of Eight –Month Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management were given Diploma and Certificates respectively.
Santosh Kumar Satapathy,IAS of 1986 batch,who is currently Principal Secretary Water Resources and Rural Roads was among the PGEXP pass outs.
