Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP government led by Chief Minister Raghubar Das is facing the charge that it has managed to win 'awards' by providing bogus details to authorities.

In Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Prime Minister Narendra  Modi gave the award to Urban Development Minister CP Singh for keeping and maintaining Swachh Survekshan 2017 status high. This means Suvekshan report results ranking the cleanliness of 432 Indian cities left Jharkhand proud. How? Four of Jharkhand's cities were among 100 with Chas at 41, Jamshedpur notified area at 64, Giridih at 81 and Hazaribagh at 81. Chas and Jamshedpur were declared cleanest city in eastern India in smaller and bigger city categories, respectively. Ranchi, a smart city lagged behind. This had raised many eyebrows as dirt and filth continued to fill the air in the above cities.

"The Agency officials were either bribed or they did not inspect the dirty and filthy sites in Ranchi where dirt and filth fill the air", said Sudhir Munda showing the dump of garbage along the roadside near Ratu Road.

Munda is not alone in making a complaint against the Raghubar government public for gaining award by submitting fabricated and false data to the authorities responsible for selecting the state government and its departments/bodies for gaining awards.

The latest case is  Federation of Jharkhand Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI). It has alleged that the high rank given to the State on various parameters including industrial infrastructure was far from reality.

The FJCCI claimed that the State Industry Department along with its consultants is providing wrong information to secure top rankings in the country.

Addressing media person at Chamber Bhawan here on Friday FJCCI president Deepak Kumar Maru is on record saying that in the latest ranking issued by Government of India, industrial park of Jharkhand is ahead of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Punjab, which, according to him is 'surprising'.

“Be it as it may, the issue of cleanliness in the cities or industrial areas, Jharkhand is being rated among leading states of the country. To provide the fifth rank to Tatisilwai Industrial Area in internal infrastructure is like adding insult to injury for local entrepreneurs who are facing dilapidated roads, deteriorating law and order and a very bad power supply system,” the FJCCI president said.

“Instead of improving the situation the industry department and the consultant is providing wrong reports to the government,” he said.

Maru said that reports sought by FJCCI on infrastructure from all 60 industrial area of the State revealed that basic facilities are almost nil in 30 of them. It is a matter of concern that Jharkhand is positioned as a leading industrial state under the circumstances, he said.

Maru said FJCCI would also apprise the Union industry Minister Suresh Prabhu about the situation.

Chairman of the FJCCI sub-committee on industry Ajay Bhandari stated that according to National Council of Applied Economic Research report Jharkhand was ranked 14th in 2016 adding a year after the state fell four places to 18th. The state is ranked second last in the ranking issued in 2018. Chairman of Jharkhand Small Industries Association Sashikant Aggarwal said the government should look into the problems faced by the industrial areas seriously.
