The mob lynching case of Saraikela-Kharsawa hit headlines again today when Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about it on the floor of the Parliament. He said he felt sad to learn it. But opined that on the basis of this criminal case, blaming the entire state -Jharkhand-was wrong.

"The culprits will be brought to justice. On this issue, the entire country was united. The security of every citizen is our responsibility", he opined.

"Mob lynching gave me pain. Others also felt sad. But on the floor of the Lok Sabha, some people were describing Jharkhand as a hub of mob lynching. Is it correct?", he asked and said, "it is wrong to blame the entire state for this crime."

"None of us have any right to defame the entire state", he said.

Incidentally, on June 17 night,24-year old Tabrej Ansari was brutally beaten up by a mob in Saraikela-Kharsawan on the charge of stealing a motorbike. He succumbed to injuries three days later in a hospital in Jamshedpur on Saturday.

After a video was circulated in social media, showing this brutality, opposition leaders raised this case in New Delhi. Soon, the state police took action. So far,11 persons were arrested and two police persons were sacked.
