Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at  7, Race Course Road, his principal workplace, in New Delhi.

The appointment was sought by Soren after he was elected as leader of the coalition in Jharkhand and took the oath of office as Chief Minister on December 29.

Prime Minister Modi seems to have honoured Soren by inviting him at his residence on Saturday morning. In turn, Soren offered a piece of tribal handicraft as well as organic flowers grown in the state.

"PM received both pieces happily with a smile on his face", said a photographer. Three pictures were circulated among media persons.

Though Soren described his first meeting with the PM Modi as a courtesy call, www.jharkhandstatenews.com has learned that he had submitted an official file giving details of the bankrupt economy left behind by the BJP government led by ex-CM Raghubar Das and demanded special economic assistance to revive the economy.

The response of the PM Modi was described as 'favourable', said a source in the office of the CM.

Also, a team led by Soren is expected to meet PM again to discuss the status and payment of the central fund to the state.
