In this time of Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic, the Hemant Soren government is providing every possible assistance to the people of Jharkhand who are within the state and those stranded in other states and union territories due to lockdown. 

As it is, people are facing a lot of problems due to the extension of lockdown till 3 May. "The government is committed to provide social security to the people of the state. Also, the ration is been provided to every needy in this time of crisis so that no one in the state goes hungry". said Soren government in a statement.


The Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs department is providing ration and food to the people under various schemes. 

As of now, food grains have been delivered to 1,61,622 people so far. 

Also, food grains have been made available to 1,93,801 people under the non-PDS. So far 53,42,836 people have been fed under various schemes of Dal Bhatt. 

About 23,88,428 people have been fed by 856 NGOs and Volunteers. Also, 1,58,298 migrant laborers are being fed in various relief camps set up by the government. Also, emergency relief packets have been delivered to 42,326 needy people.

The state government is repeatedly urging all people of the state to stay at home and avoid going out. Social distancing is the only key to fight Coronavirus. 

According to the report of the Health Department, so far 3,060 people have been tested for Covid-19 in the state, out of which 28 Corona positive cases have been found and 2,592 people have tested negative, while the result for 440 is awaited. 

Of those positive cases, 9 are from Bokaro, 2 from Hazaribagh, 1 from Giridih, 1 from Koderma, 1 from Simdega and 14 cases from Ranchi. 

There are 4,049 quarantine centers operating in the state, where 9,833 people are being quarantined, while 95,983 are people living under home quarantine. So far 1,01,370 people have completed their quarantine period.

The state government is also trying to provide all possible assistance to the people of Jharkhand stranded in other states and union territories. 

According to the data received from the Department of Labor, Planning and Training, 5,82,481 migrant laborers have been reported stranded at 11,828 places. 

The government has made arrangements for food and lodging of 4,34,804 laborers stranded at 9,018 places. Complete information is also being collected from the people to provide every possible assistance from all levels.

A "State Level Corona Control Room" (SLCCR) has been set up by the State government and a 24X7 toll-free number 181 has been issued so that the people can contact for any kind of assistance and queries regarding Corona Virus (Covid-19). 

 As of now, a total of 15,327 cases related to Covid-19 has been lodged in the SLCCR , out of which assistance has been provided in 10,121 cases. Every possible action are been taken on the remaining matters. In the Corona control room, 6,991 complaints related to the food supply, 743 related to law and order, 786 related to medical, 768 related to persons stranded in Jharkhand and 833 other complaints have been resolved.
