Two incidents of crime show that the foreigners were not safe in India.

The first incident took place in Datia district of neighbouring state Madhya Pradesh where a 39-year-old Swiss tourist was recently raped and robbed by six men.

The second incident took place in Agra today when a British tourist jumped from her hotel room after a man allegedly tried to molest her.

According to police, the woman had to jump from the balcony of her first floor room to escape sexual assault. The incident took place in Agra’s Rakabhganj area around 4 am.

Reports said the accused was the owner of the hotel, Sachin Chauhan.” He allegedly passed lewd remarks and asked the woman if she wanted a massage. Petrified, the woman jumped out of the balcony and sustained fractures to one leg. She has been in India for a week on a tourist visa and was to travel to Varanasi next week.”

Chauhan was arrested and the victim was discharged from the hospital after she was treated there.
