Deoghar, land of God Shiva and one of 12 Jyotirlingas of the Hindus, is calm and quite.Reason is simple. The month -long Sharvani mela and Kanwaria yatra are not going to take place for the second consecutive year amid COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions that include ban on visiting religious places of worship.

The Kanwaria yatra begins from the first day of the Shravana month on July 25.Aware of the state government imposed COVID-19 protocol and restrictions, there has been no preparations from the side of the Deoghar district administration, an indication that the Hemant Soren government will not allow the Sharvani mela and gathering of Kanwarias at the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deghar.

However, the state government is yet to come out with a formal order on this mega event when lakhs of devotees across the country turn up to offer holy water over the God Shiva at Baidyanath temple in Deoghar.
