Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industry is up in arms against the water tax being levied by the Ranchi Municipal Corporation.

“We have asked members not to pay the tax.It is illegal”,says FJCCI president Ranjit Tibrewal.

Tibrewal argues that every businessman was paying municipal tax on house, toilet, water, health and education.”Now,many people had received huge sums of water tax bill.A separate tax on water is illegal”,said Tibrewal.

A FJCCI delegation led by Tibrewal met Governor’s Advisor Madhukar Gupta on Thursday and appealed to him to get the RMC’s move to collect water tax scrapped.

Tibrewal also asked Gupta to get the vacant post of Industry Department’s Director filled up and dissolve the Bazar Samiti headed by Sub Divisional Officer at the district level.

‘This Samiti does nothing except perpetrating a regime of corruption and extortion. It must be dissolved forthwith”,demanded Tibrewal.
