A total of five skill development centres are functioning in the West Singhbhum district and there is a possibility of three additional centres to be made functional in the next one or two months. 

Under this, a MoU has been signed with the Tata Steel Foundation which has taken up the operation of Skill Training Institute. The centre provides imparts skills in various technical fields in West Singhbhum town of Chaibasa district. 

“The district administration is giving utmost priority to the operation of the Skill Development Centre, where apart from the training, residential and non-residential facilities, food and accommodation are also completely free of cost”, says West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal.

At present, a total of four Skill Development Centres are functional under the State Sustainable Scheme and one from the District Aspirational Fund. 

After the registration of a total of 7,323 youths, training has been imparted to 5,504 youths, 3,509 youths have been provided with certificates, and employment opportunities on the basis of placements have been extended to 1,834 youths, D Mittal claimed.
