On July 18, concerning the increasing COVID -19 cases in India, the National Health Mission & Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Jharkhand in support with USAID NISHTHA PATH organised a 2nd State Level Workshop on Strengthening Oxygen Ecosystem and Oxygen Demand Aggregation System (ODAS) implementation for Public & Private Health Facilities at Raddison Blu, Ranchi. 

Dr Bhuvnesh Pratap Singh (IAS) Mission Director, National Health Mission, Jharkhand graced this workshop through video conference and spoke on apprehension regarding the Covid-19 situation in State. He emphasized the need for an Oxygen Mock Drill to monitor the functionality of the PSA plant and ODAS implementation. He communicated one-to-one with participants and guided them.

The workshop was inaugurated by Vidyanand Sharma Pankaj, Additional Mission Director, National Health Mission, Jharkhand, and Dr Krishan Kumar, Director in Chief of Health Services, who both emphasized the need for preparedness for any future emergencies and the importance of ODAS. Director Drugs Mrs. Ritu Sahay welcomed all the participants, emphasized the need to strengthen the oxygen ecosystem, preparedness and motivated them.

On this occasion, the Jharkhand Oxygen Roadmap having the recommendations to strengthen the respiratory care services in the state developed by USAID NISHTHA partner PATH was launched. A total of 70 participants including Civil Surgeons/District Surveillance Officers cum Nodal Officer for ODAS and District Data Manager of all 24 districts, State Epidemiologist (IDSP) Dr Pravin Karn, Mr Kedar Gupta (Quality Cell) representatives from private health facilities and development partners attended this workshop. This workshop focused on practical demonstration of ODAS and one-to-one problem solving of the districts for ODAS, oxygen concentrator receiving and installation & PSA mock drills. 
 

Mr Abhijeet Sinha from PATH briefed the participants on the work carried out by PATH under various projects and highlighted the proposed areas. Mr Ram Kumar Jha (Drug Inspector, Ranchi) & Dr Chandrashekhar Ashok Bohra from PATH trained the district officials on ODAS overview and hands-on training.
