Due to Covid -19 hit Solicitor General and his absence , the Jharkhand High Court today deferred the hearing in the case of shell companies involving CM Hemant Soren and his associated till August 26.

When the hearing started,the division  bench comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad was informed that the Solicitor General was down with Covid -19. And appeal was made to defer the case.

In response, the court deferred it and ordered hearing of this case on August 26.

In the past, the Jharkhand High Court had issued a notice to Dumka MLA Basant Soren besides former treasurer of the JMM Ravi Kejriwal in the PIL 4290/2021 related to allegations against Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his associates for parking their unaccounted money in different shell companies.This was on July 8 when the court had passed this order while hearing two PILs- one 4290/2021 and two,727/2022.

In the PIL no. 4290/2021, the petitioner Shiv Shankar Sharma has alleged the CM Soren and his associates including Ravi Kejriwal and Amit Agrawal had invested their “unaccounted money” in the shell companies and demanded a CBI inquiry. 

The PIL no. 727/2022 is related to the CM availing stone mining lease in his name at Angara in Ranchi.
