At a time when Jharkhand High Court is slated to hear two PILs against Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and associates on August 27, the lawyer Rajiv Kumar, who was representing a petitioner of these PILs, was arrested by Kolkata Police on charges of allegedly duping people of money amounting to Rs two lakh.
The PILs were related to a mining lease and allegations of shell companies and money laundering against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his associates. Now the lawyer of the petitioner of these PILs were arrested from a mall in central Kolkata.
Similarly, Jharkhand’s three Congress MLAs - Irfan Ansari, Naman Vixal Kongari and Rajesh Kacchap - were arrested by the West Bengal police on a tip-off on charges of processing Rs 49 lakh cash on Saturday. They have been jailed.
Following these two separate cases lodged in Bengal on “inputs” provided from Jharkhand has raised a war of words. A section of the ruling JMM- Congress leaders have blamed the BJP ( through Assam CM) for funding the Congress MLAs to topple Hemant Soren's government, the BJP has counter blamed the JMM- Congress for “hiding their face by raising baseless and planned action” against the Congress MLAs and the lawyer Rajiv Kumar.
