On July 5,2014 Enforcement Directorate( ED) had seized a double storey bungalow near Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.The value of this bungalow owned by Menon Ekka, wife of ex MinisterEnos Ekka,was estimated to be around Rs 50 crore.

Eight years later today,Ekka, an accused in money laundering case, indicating he had amassed disproportionate assets worth billions of  rupees beyond his known sources of income, is undergoing imprisonment behind high walls, in Ranchi jail.

Ten kilometres away stands this seized bungalow of prisoner which is being used by the ED as its regional office in capital city of Jharkhand.

Ironically,it is inside this bungalow, regional personnel of the ED and its high ranked officers from Bihar and Delhi were learnt to be involved in interrogating Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in a money laundering case.

As per ED’s demand put up before the DGP, Jharkhand, a section of over 210 police personnel were deployed outside its regional office.

In view of the possibility that Soren supporters and JMM party men can teach ED office to protest against its summon to CM Soren, Ranchi police has deployed the Jharkhand Armed Police personnel to maintain law and order.
