Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren today unveiled the statue of martyr Sobren Soren at Lukiyatanr in Nemra village, Ramgarh district of Jharkhand.

Nemra, the ancestral village of Hemant Soren’s father Shibu Soren, MP and grandfather Sobren Soren who was a renowned school teacher there, is celebrating the martyrdom of senior Soren.

On the occasion, sari and blankets were distributed among the Adivasis.

Records show that Sobren Soren was murdered by a gang of moneylenders against whom he was involved in educating Adivasis. After his father’s murder, Shibu Soren led a movement against money lenders and liquor consumption by Adivasis before getting involved with other leaders of the state to set up Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

Aware of his grandfather Sobren Soren’s fight against money lenders and liquor mafias, the CM Hemant Soren in league with his father Shibu Soren marked open the statue of martyr Sobren Soren at Lukiyatanr in presence of a large group of Adivasis.
