CPI( Maoist) Regional Commander, Mithilesh Singh, alias Duryodhan Mahto alias Bada Babu alias Badka Da alias Awdhesh, turned himself in before the Jharkhand police on Friday.
Jharkhand police had announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh for his capture. Duryodhan had joined CPI( Maoist) about three decades ago.
He, a resident of Gend Nawadih village located under the jurisdiction of the Topchanchi police station in Dhanbad, has surrendered in presence of senior officers of the state police and the CRPF at the office of IG, Ranchi.
While surrendering before the police, Duryodhan admitted that he had led the group of CPI( Maoist) to explode the vehicle of CRPF in Churchu, Hazaribagh. In this incident, more than 15 CRPF jawans were killed.
For the past three decades, Duryodhan has been wanted in as many as 104 criminal cases. Among these cases, 58 were registered in Bokaro,5 in Chatra,4 in Saraikela- Kharsawan,3 in Khunti, 2 in Chaibasa,26 in Hazaribagh, and 1 in Dhanbad and 5 in Giridih district.
