The Enforcement Directorate sleuths are going to interrogate Bishnu Kumar Ram after they took him on remand from the special court in Ranchi on Thursday.

Ram, who was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the state rural development and other schemes including the Suvarnarekha irrigation project, is currently under the custody of the ED.  

Ram, a multi-billionaire engineer, who was known as “ thoroughly corrupt” was taken into custody under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act( PMLA) after a prolonged session of grilling inside ED’s Ranchi office near Birsa Munda Airport.

He was picked by the agency after it launched multiple searches on February 21 in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and a few other places in Jharkhand, Bihar and Delhi.

Ram has been “evasive" in his replies and the ED has sought remand for his custodial interrogation after they produced him before a local court on Thursday.
