After interrogating them in the Army land scam in Ranchi, ED has arrested seven persons including Circle Inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad. 

Their premises together with the multiple premises of IAS officer and Ex-Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan were raided by ED on April 13, 2023.

All seven accused were presented in court. They were 

1. Circle Inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad, from whose residence in Bariyatu huge number of official land records and other files were recovered on Thursday
2. Afsar Ali, house number -28, Second Street, Hindpiri.
3. Saddam Hussain, Bariyatu
4.Imtiaz Ahmed,Manitola
5.Talha Khan alias Sanni,residence near Rahat Nursing Home
6. Pradeep Bagchi, Udyanchal Tower
7.Faiyaz Khan,Millat Colony

Among them, CI Bhanu Pratap Prasad was the government personnel. The rest six were land dealers. From his premise, a huge quantity of land “ sale deeds.”

During the raids on their premises, the ED sleuths have recovered items including the “seal-stamp” used to make fake official documents of sale and purchase of land.

Sources say that ED plans to interrogate these accused to unearth the sale and purchase of land deals and thereby money laundering.

The IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan is alleged to have “ threatened” Rajiv Kumar, Jharkhand High Court lawyer, who had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren over corruption.
