On February 9,2013, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Altamas Kabir had laid foundation stone of a new building of the Jharkhand High Court.

A decade later, the new building of the Jharkhand High Court is ready for house warming. So far, over Rs 350 crore has been spent from the public exchequer on building the complex, it is learnt.

The new building is expected to be handed over to the JHC on April 30.

Spread over eight acres of land, this new building has a space of 10 lakh square feet.It has 25 court rooms, high court registry section office, advocate hall, advocates chamber, senior advocate chamber, etc.The sitting arrangement of advocates can accommodate 2000 advocates.

The new building has a mega court for the Chief Justice. It is 80 feel long, 65 feet wide and 40 feet high. The size of other court rooms is 60X43 feet.

The new building is divided in two blocks. In each block there are 288 chambers. In other words, it has 576 chambers for advocates.

Notably, 25 AC court rooms are luxurious.There is a green building spread over 10 lakh square feet area.

“We hope the new building will be handed over to the high court by April 30 and the work connected with shifting offices and the court will begin”, says Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan.
