While inquiring into a liquor scam in Chhattisgarh, Enforcement Directorate issued notice to Jharkhand Excise Department Secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey and its Commissioner Karan Satyarthi.
As it is, the Jharkhand government led by CM Hemant Soren who holds the charge of the Excise Department had adopted and implemented a new excuse policy under command of Vinay Kumar Choubey and Karan Satyarthi.
Jharkhand excise department had inked MoU with Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited (CSMCL). As per this MoU, CSMCL was appointed as a consultant by the Department of Excise and Prohibition, Jharkhand in 2021. to provide suggestions to the Jharkhand State Government on the subject of revenue augmentation.
In its notice to the above two Jharkhand officers, ED has sought details of this agreement and submitted their standpoints.
ED is inquiring into a liquor scam in Chhattisgarh where Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Ltd’d Managing Director Arun Pati Tripathi and his associate Siddharth Singhania had a major role in allegedly indulging in the scam.
Now, ED wants to know what role Tripathi and Singhania played in formulating the excise policy in Jharkhand under the administration of Choubey and Satyarthi. Notably, Choubey, an IAS officer, is secretary to CM Hemant Soren.
