Hemant Soren government has suffered a major setback as Governor CP Radhakrishnan has returned the Jharkhand Reservation( Amendment)Bill-2022 approved by the state Assembly.

Governor CP Radhakrishnan has advised the state government to consider the legality of the Bill.

As per the Bill, the reservation of OBC was increased from 14 to 27 percent and the reservation of ST was increased from 26 to 28 percent. The reservation of SC was increased from 10 to 12 percent, and a 10 percent reservation was given to EWS. As a result, the percentage of reservations in the state had gone up to 77 percent.

Inquiry revealed that the Bill was approved by the state Assembly when Governor Ramesh Bais who sought a legal view on the Bill providing 77 percent reservation to people. In response, on the basis of the Attorney General’s suggestion, Governor CP Radhakrishnan returned the Bill to the Hemant Soren government.
