Rejecting his appeal seeking more time to appear before it, Enforcement Directorate has asked IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan to appear before its Ranchi office on Monday(April 24).
Prior to this second summon, the ED had summoned him at 4 pm on Friday ( April 21). However, instead of appearing before it and abiding by its summon, Chhavi Ranjan had requested ED to permit him to appear before it in the first week of May,
The ED rejected his appeal and asked him to appear at its Ranchi office on April 22. Chhavi Ranjan who was Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi district is alleged to be involved in the illegal sale and purchase of the Indian Army’s 4.55 acres of land in the Bariyatu area of Ranchi city.
In this land scam case, ED had arrested seven persons so far. Chhavi Ranjan also faces the charge of “ threatening” Jharkhand High Court lawyer Rajiv Kumar, who was the counsel for two PILs filed. Y Shiv Shankar Sharma against Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren seeking a CBI probe in connection with his mining lease and alleged shell companies operated by his associates.
Alongside, the police have arrested Dahu Yadav who is accused in a case filed by the ED in Sahibgunj court. Yadav was arrested by a team led by Inspector Shashi Bhushan Choudhary.
Next, under the control of police personnel in presence of Magistrate Amit Kumar, Pashupati Yadav was sent to Ranchi, it is learnt.
