After Odisha, it’s Jharkhand.

On December 30,2022,Chief Minister of Odisha Navin Patnaik did what his counterpart Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is going to do by unveiling an air ambulance service to the people of Jharkhand on April 28,2023.

However, there is difference in service provided by these two neighbouring states in India. While in Odisha, the air ambulance service was meant for deprived sections of people, in Jharkhand, it is for all.

In fact,the air ambulance is part of the state of Jharkhand government’s health services program, marking a noticeable  development in the field of healthcare services.

As a result, it became one of the second states to offer air ambulance services to the people of Jharkhand who can avail of its service by paying for it. 

The air ambulance is going to be operated by the Air Craft - King Air C -90 in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Director General of Civil Aviation.King Air C-90 is a twin- engine Turboprop fixed wing aircraft with two Pratt and Whitney PT6A-21 engines.

The operation of this air ambulance is an outcome of Memorandum of Understanding signed between the civil aviation department of the Jharkhand government and Redbird Airlines Private Ltd,owner of the air ambulance.

Redbird Airways Private Limited is a private incorporated on April 3,2018. It is classified as Non/ govt company and is registered at Registrar of companies, New Delhi. It’s authorities share capital is Rs 100,000,000 and it’s paid up capital is Rs 100,000,000. It is learnt to involved in supporting and auxiliary transport activities and activities of travel agencies.

As per the MoU, The Redbird Airways’ will operate the air ambulance with pilot and staff and maintain it at Birsa Munda airport, Ranchi.The King Air C-90 air ambulance will be equipped with moden life support system attached to a bed for the patient and an attendant will be available to people of Jharkhand 24X7.

Alongside, the state government civil aviation department will monitor and control the function and service provided by Redbird Airways. The deal has been signed for one year, said Gautam Singh, incharge of the air ambulance service, who is a personnel of the state civil aviation department.

Notably,this air ambulance service is first of its kind programme undertaken in Jharkhand and it is expected to help all those persons who can take their patients to the cities of their choice.

The service with the rate of this air ambulance is as follows:
Sector I-Ranchi- New Delhi- Rs 5 lakh;Ranchi- Mumbai- Rs 7 lakh; Ranchi- Chennai- Rs 8 lakh; and Ranchi- Kolkata - Rs 3 lakh.

Sector II- Ranchi- Hyderabad - Rs 7 lakh; Ranchi- Varanasi - Rs 3.30 lakh; Ranchi- Lucknow- Rs 5 lakh; and Ranchi- Tirupati- Rs 8 lakh.

Other than above route, air ambulance service will be provided at a cost of Rs 1.10 lakh per hour. These sites can be Ranchi- Chandigarh, Ranchi- Patna and so on.

Apart from Ranchi airport, this air ambulance service will be available from other cities -Bokaro, Deoghar,Jamshedpur, Dumka, Dhanbad and Giridih - in Jharkhand.
