Police have nabbed a Maoist who carried an award of Rs 2 lakh on his head. His arrest took place in the Tapkara area of Khunti district in Jharkhand on Monday.

In police records, Sukhram Gudia, zonal commander of the banned ultra-left outfit- People’s Liberation Front of India( PLFI), was active in the outskirts of Ranchi, Khunti, Rania, Toros, and Tapkara for over a decade. His arrest seems to have jolted the dwindling PLFI.

Cops are learned to have arrested him after chasing him for some time. He was spotted “ fighting” and “beating” the staff of the water tank. After a resident was informed, the police arrived and succeeded in arresting him. Notably, nobody protested against his arrest in Tapkara.

The arrest of Sukhram Gudia, considered a “right hand” of the dreaded Maoist Jivan Gudia who was killed in an “ encounter” earlier, is considered a major success of the state police in Jharkhand.
