The women's wing of the police has arrested a lady drug peddler from the seventh floor of the UNI building of Katatoli in Ranchi town and seized a packet of brown sugar from her possession.
The peddler was identified as Asmina Parvin, a resident of Palamau town who used to stay in a room on the seventh floor of the UNI building. The market value of the seized contraband would be Rs 3.30 lakh.
Acting on a tipoff, a team of women wing of the police led by Dy.SP(Technical) posed as customers and nabbed Parvin.
The peddler was booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
Over the last couple of years, the brown sugar trade has increased in Ranchi town and its adjoining blocks. Police are involved in tracing the link between peddlers and brown sugar providers.
The drug peddlers are mostly targeting college students to carry out their trade.
