When Chief Minister Hemant Soren will hand over appointment letters to 3469 school teachers at Tana we Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Khel Gaon on Friday, ex-CM Raghubar Das must be repenting.

Raghubar Das ought to repent simply because the process of selection and appointment of these 3469 school teachers was initiated in 2016 when he was the CM and the employment policy formulated by his government for 13 and 11 Scheduled and non scheduled area districts respectively, was in force.

That was the time when 8,432 and 9,149 posts of government school teachers were vacant in the Scheduled and non Scheduled districts in Jharkhand. As such, the state education department had published an advertisement seeking applications for the appointment of 17,572 school teachers. In response, candidates filed applications and participated in tests.

This process of appointment was questioned. A petitioner Soni Kumari moved the Supreme Court.

The apex court heard both sides - the petitioner and the state government. Finally, the SC directed the Chief Secretary to complete the process of appointment within three months.

The state government followed the SC’s order. Hence, while it decided that CM Hemant Soren will provide them appointment letters to 3469 of them on May 29, 2023, it had also resolved to train them. The training will be provided at the district level.

During their training, newly appointed teachers will undergo an educational exercise connected with subjects such as school education and literacy and work and functions of the Secondary education directorate, primary education directorate, and so on.
