*Dreaded Naxal Dinesh Gope

National Investigating Agency has made a historic success by arresting the dreaded Naxalite supremo Dinesh Gope in a joint operation with the Jharkhand police. 

A team of NIA sleuths had nabbed Gope in Nepal, said a report published by the Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar. His arrest is set to close the chapter of his outfit - The people’s Liberation Front of India( PLFI).

Gope, founder and leader of the banned PLFI, an ultra-left-wing outfit, carried an award of Rs 30 lakh on his head.

Of this reward sum, the NIA had declared Rs five lakh whereas the Jharkhand police had announced Rs 25 lakh on his head.

According to Jharkhand police, Gope was accused in more than three dozen cases of murder, kidnapping, ransom, possession of illegal arms, and so on.

He was reportedly arrested in Nepal by NIA sleuths. Right now, he was being interrogated. Gope is expected to be brought to Ranchi soon.

Alongside, the police had defused and seized three high-power IEDs in West Singhbhum forest areas. 

The SP Ashutosh Shekhar told media persons that these IEDs were planted on earthen roads linking two villages- Indurupa and Paprida- falling under Karaikela police station. “ During combing operation, the security forces identified these IEDs and seized”, said Shekhar.

Each of these IEDs weighed nearly 10 kg. Earlier, after an operation was launched to free the land mass of forest from the IEDs of the CPI( Maoist), several people were killed in the IED blast in this area. 

Among the deceased were 5 police personnel, one 10- year old child, two elderly women among 18 persons were killed or injured.
