Investigations by the district administration in Garhwa revealed a shocking case of a dead body of a newly born baby who was thrown into a trash and burnt by hospital staff.

The incident took place at Referral hospital, Majhigaon in Garhwa on Saturday.Three staff of this hospital- Maid Dowlat Devi and two Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery( ANM)Nirmala Kumari and Manju Kumari- were facing the charge of indulging in this inhuman act.

At around 3 pm on June 10, 22- year old Madhu Devi who was pregnant was admitted at this hospital.Under the supervision of Dr Madan Lal supported by two ANMs Manju Devi and Nirmala Devi assisted by maid Dowlat Devi, Madhu Devi delivered a baby. The baby reportedly died minutes after birth.

Reports indicate that while Madhu Devi’s husband and others went to market to purchase shroud, a cloth used for wrapping the dead body was  thrown into a trash can and burnt.

The charge of this heinous crime was slapped by Madhu Devi’s father Hari Kishore and mother Rajmati Devi. They told media persons that the ANMs had informed that the baby was born dead.

As per their allegation, when they had gone to market to buy shroud to wrap up and bury the dead baby, ANMs Nirmala Kumari and Manjuri Kumar together with maid Dowlat Devi threw the dead baby into a deep trash and burnt.

This caused anger and grief among parents and mother Madhu Devi.Reports claim that one of the two ANM Nirmala Kumari has controversial background. She is alleged to have taken possession of a newly born child of a school girl and was jailed for two years.

Majhgaon Referral Hospital in Garhwa incharge Dr. Govind Prasad Seth told media persons that dead body of the newly born baby ought to have been handed over to relatives” It is a shame on humanity”, said Dr. Seth.

Garhwa district administration led by SDO has launched inquiry and interrogations of both ANMs and Maid was going on till now at 5.30 pm.
