Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel surrendered before the civil court in Ranchi on Saturday.
Her appearance in the civil court was in response to the issuance of a warrant issued by the same Ranchi civil court and her business partner Krunal in a fraud and cheque bounce case.
After hearing her counsel’s appeal the civil judge, senior division, DN Shukla ordered to make her physically present before it on June 21. This means Mumbai-based actress, Ameesha Patel will have to stay in the capital city of Jharkhand at least till then.
Her case is linked with the complainant, Ajay Kumar Singh who is a film producer from Jharkhand. He had registered a case of fraud, intimidation, and cheque bounce against Ameesha Patel and her partner.
The court was displeased since the actress did not keep her stand before the court despite the summons. Neither she nor her lawyer appeared before the court. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for June 21.
Complainant Ajay Kumar Singh has claimed that the actress and her business partner took Rs 2.5 crore from him for the making and publicity of a film titled Desi Magic.
According to Ajay Kumar, Ameesha Patel, and her business partner had said that they would return the money along with interest after the completion of the film. The shooting of Desi Magic started in 2013. However, the film has not been released yet. When the filmmaker asked for his money from Ameesha Patel, she did not repay it to him.
After a lot of delays, she gave him two cheques for Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 50 lakh in October 2018, which had bounced.
