On the first Monday in the Hindu month of Shravan which will last for 59 days, Deoghar has turned into a city of Kanwariyas- devotees of God Shiva.

Hundreds of thousands of Kanwariyas clad in orange-shaded robes were standing in six km long queues from Nandkyari to Babadham temple, offering worship to God Siva by powering and thereby bathing the Siva Lingam with water.

Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri informed that Kanwariyas were pouring water and bathing God Shiva since 03.55 am. Since water bathing through hands ( Sparsh) was closed, they were offering water through Aghra.

To maintain law and order Deoghar SP Subhash Chandra Jat and DC Manjunath Bhajantri were spotted inspecting the long routes of Kanwariyas.

The center of the extra vigil being kept by the Deoghar administration includes places such as Paneshwar Dyal Road, B.Ed college complex, Tiwari Chowk, Shivram Jha Chowk, Nehru Park, Queue complex, Kumetha, Nandan Pahad, Ring road, T- Point near Nandan Pahad.

Notably, teams of NDRF and Quick Response, Medical, and Mela Duty were on alert mode under the direct vigilance of DC and SP.

More than 500 CCTVs were installed at Babadham temple and one Integrated Mela Control room was at work near Nehru Park.” We are keeping close eyes on all activities in Deoghar”, DC Manjunath Bhajantri.
