A week after the apex court had directed concerned authorities not to take any coercive action against him, Abhishek Jha today surrendered before the ED’s PMLA Special court in Ranchi.

The court ordered a grant of bail to him on two personal bonds of Rs one lakh each in the money laundering case.

Earlier, in a major relief to Abhishek Jha, the husband of suspended IAS officer and MGNREGA scam accused Pooja Singhal who is in jail the Supreme Court had on July 6 directed for no coercive action against him.

The Apex Court order had given him much relief. The division bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia issued the directive.

Jha had moved the apex court after the Jharkhand High Court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

It may be noted that in January this year, the Supreme Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Abhishek Jha. In the petition, anticipatory bail was sought for the care of the daughter, which was rejected by the Supreme Court. It may be noted that Abhishek Jha, accused of money laundering, did not get relief from the Supreme Court.
