The Chandrayaan -3 conjures images of Indian Space Research Organisation scientists and their massive team effort involved in launching it. But a fundamental achievement that led to the successful lunar launch came  as a result of one man's determination to buck the system at ISRO.

That man is young scientist from a village under Torpa block in Khunti district of Jharkhand -Sohen Yadav.

Sohen Yadav has been a member of ISRO’s Orbitor Integration and Testing Team.This Jharkhand scientist is part of ISRO’s ambitious programme Gaganyaan.

Gaganyaan is an Indian crewed orbital spacecraft intended to be the formative spacecraft of the Indian Human Spaceflight Programme. The spacecraft is being designed to carry three people, and a planned upgraded version will be equipped with rendezvous and docking capability. 

A fort night back Sohan Yadav had rang up his mother Devika Devi and informed her about the Chandrayaan mission.” Now I will be able to talk to you after the launch of Chandrayaan”, he is learnt to have told his mother and brother Gagan Yadav who reside in Torpa.

Today, when Chandrayaan was launched Devika Devi and Gagan Yadav were offering prayers at the pilgrimage site of Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra, Reasi on the slopes of Trikuta Hills within the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

Sohan Yadav, son of a truck driver, who studied in a Shishu Mandir school in Tapkara, has been associated with ISRO since past seven years.

After completing Matric, he studied in private school while staying in hostel.” Though we did not have enough money, his father spent Rs 6-7 thousand per month on his education”, said Devika Devi.

“Facing huge financial problem,his father made the son (Sohan Yadav) learn”, Devika Devi added giggling on phone.

No wonder why Sohan Yadav did his schooling from Jawahar Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mesra,DAV, Bariyatu and then after completing engineering from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology and Space Science, Kerala in 2016, got linked with the ISRO.
